The
National Test Pilot School (NTPS) was incorporated
in 1981 in the State of California as a non-profit educational
institution to meet the highly specialized flight test training
needs of domestic and foreign aerospace industries and
governments. On February 8, 1994 the National Flight Test
Institute (NFTI) was formed as the degree granting and
research division of the NTPS.
National
Flight Test Institute graduate degree programs are designed to
educate and train superbly qualified test personnel in the areas
of flight test engineering, technical management, and flight test
support activities. NFTI particularly seeks to
provide an effective educational and training program to highly
motivated men and women in the aerospace community who have
achieved a substantial level of professional maturity as pilots,
engineers, and managers. Graduates will be capable of
participating immediately upon graduation in either a military
acceptance or civil certification program. The Masters of Science in Flight Test Engineering program is accredited by ABET.
Focused
by this purpose, and intimately familiar with the technical
requirements of this unique career field, NFTI has defined
academic and professional goals in the area of flight test
engineering at the graduate level. These goals emphasize the
development of insight in, and understanding of, the fundamental
ideas and methods of applied mathematics, physical science, and
engineering; the development of scientific application of this
knowledge to uncover solutions to real world problems and the
advancement of aeronautical science; and the development of skills
in effective management, reporting and communication.
